FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jim Renner Files Candidacy Petition for D-6 Congressional Seat.
Will Run in May 4 Democratic Primary
Lisbon, Ohio – February 16, 2010 –
Renner, a North Benton resident and business owner, will run as a Democrat in the May 4 Primary for the seat currently held by Charlie Wilson.
“I’ve chosen to run for Congress at this time because, as a life-long Democrat, it appears to me that the party has lost its direction and its will to right it,” says Renner. “We need to give the people back their voice and bring back fiscal responsibility.”
Renner has spent time in the steel mills of Cleveland, where he helped organize unions, sat in on negotiations and arbitrations, and served as a steward.
A businessman, Renner also ran a successful building company that employed a dozen hardworking Ohio residents and worked with a large base of subcontractors. As an independent business owner, he’
s dealt with insurance companies, banks, suppliers, the legal system, and government bureaucracy.
Renner is a former president of Habitat for Humanity for Portage County and has been involved in numerous community and church organizations.
“You may have seen me already as my family and I collected signatures,” says Renner. “If you haven’t seen me yet, chances are you will as I make the rounds through the district, knocking on doors, introducing myself. Or if you just want to chat about ways to improve our district, join the discussion at D6Coalition.com. Your ideas are welcome.”
