    About Jim Renner

I have lived in Ohio all my life. I am married to a wonderful woman. Together we have six children and three grandchildren. After 14 years in the steel mills, I’ve divided my time between lending my talents to other people and running my own business.

In the mills, I worked as a union organizer and a union steward for two different unions and have spent days out on the picket line wondering if I was going to have a job tomorrow. I also sat in on company union negotiations and arbitrations.

As a businessman, I’ve run a successful building company that has had its ups and downs as the economy ebbed and flowed. I’ve had multiple employees and have worked with a large base of subcontractors. And I know what it’s like to meet payroll.

As an independent business owner, I’ve dealt with insurance companies, banks, suppliers, the legal system, and government bureaucracy.

As a neighbor, I have been president of Habitat for Humanity for Portage County and been involved in numerous community and church organizations.

On the personal side, I’ve been through the rigors of divorce and understand the thoughts and concerns of both single parents and also non-custodial parents. As I have been both.

I fill my spare time by hunting and fishing and shooting pool after the “Honey, Do…” list is done.

I’ve chosen to run for Congress at this time because as a life-long Democrat, it appears to me that the party has lost its direction and its will to right it. We need to give the people back their voice.

    Hi Jim,

I suggest you mention that you are “a life-long Conservative Democrat” at the end of the first paragraph above, and take that phrase out of the last paragraph (or leave it in). Adding the Conservative label will help explain the Conservative blogs and the pictures of the Tea Party in DC. Otherwise, some will think you’re a Republican, heaven forbid!

    Love ya Brother,
    Doug
